Am I in the Twilight Zone?

One of my favorite things to do every Fourth of July is to watch the Twilight Zone marathon on Scifi *not Syfy* so I know most of them pretty well. One of my favorites is the episode of the woman who believes she is dying because the Sun is moving closer and closer to the world. Her paintings melt, someone attacks her for water...etc. When in actuality she is terribly ill and has a high fever, due to the LACK of sun and the world freezing over.

This is why I pose the question: Have I suddenly been thrust into her world of to much sun watching the temperature rising every hour...I think so.

My air conditioning has gone out. Being from Alaska we don't even HAVE air conditioning...we have fans...for when it gets to the 70's. I've lived here on the east coast for 2 years now and was stupid enough NOT to get the damned thing checked. I think it needs more fluid and have to wait until Wednesday for them to come take a look.

Sigh. Really I'm not whining. I don't worry about myself, more my cats. But I've been told they will be fine, and the girl I actually shaved. So now I have taken solace in the basement where its about 10 degrees cooler, and when its cool enough outside to cool the house down I open all of the windows and doors. Thats when I get to watch the temperature tick back down...HAZAA!

So until Wednesday I will be down in the basement, coaxing the cats to come join me as I watch Sliders and The Big Bang Theory...and maybe Buffy. I haven't decided if I want to start re-watching it yet. Is it time? I'm not sure. Also, I will be cross-stitching. Which I love. Maybe I'll depict that Twilight Zone scene!

The Week Ahead

Its Wednesday and I skipped school. I'm a bad girl, but actually not so much because I was really sick last night and did not have energy to get up at 4:30. It just wasn't happening. Hopefully the Chef will allow me to come in for one of his Saturday classes and I can make it up. I've been a bit of a slacker this quarter.

In other news I get a new tattoo tomorrow. Yes, thats right. Another one. I was thinking about getting the Stargate Atlantis symbol, but I think I'm not going to do that tomorrow. If the tattoo guy allows it. We'll see. I think I'll just get a star and a musical note but together. A gold star! I'll keep you posted.

You being the awesome follower who gave me this:

Plus I stalked you on your blog and found out your from Texas! Hazaa!

Lets see...what else is going on this week? The heat is OPRESSIVE and something is wrong with my air conditioner. Its struggling. I'm going to have to call someone to come take a look at it. It may need fluid of some sort. But it does need to get looked at because I just do not like the idea of me not being home and my cats die of heat exhaustion! Thankfully when I'm not home they go their areas to sleep which are a bit cooler then the main parts of the house.

Long story short this week is a bit boring. Except for the tattoo. I'm excited about that, espically if the artist wont mind me doing a quick change.

Commercials...kinda fun actually!

I'd like to take a moment to talk about commercial. Normally I hate them. Especially during news programs as you get two minutes of news and five minutes of commercials that go on and off for however long the news is. I hate it.

But there are SOME commercials that I heart to death. I love all of the Hillshire Farm commericals. I'm not a huge fan of sausage, but I love their commercials. They write them very well and make me want to buy their products...which I don't even like.

The first commercial I EVER fell in love with though was one for Disney something or other. I think it was for Disney world. Lets track back to when I was 18...which was...10 years ago. Sigh. I wanted to work for Disney SO BADLY! So when I turned 18, I went to the only Disney store in Alaska and applied. I got the job! HAZAA! I loved it. I still love it to this day, though I no longer live in Alaska and the store is closed down because Michael Isner is...something not so nice. And he felt the need to shut down all the non-essential Disney Stores.

Long story short, there was a large screen where they would show movies, cartoons, commercials...etc. And thats where I found my most favorite commerical. Like I said, it was for Disney but I do not recall WHAT in Disney it was for. It was a man and woman on a date. The man presents the woman with a shoe box. She looks...confused...but opens it. To find...A Glass SLIPPER!!! That is awesome. I've been married once...and divorced. I hope my next husband will propose to me like that. It was so romantic and wonderful...I still think about it today and look for it on YouTube...but I have yet to find it.

So yes world, there are commercials out there that I love. I'm trying to think of some of the others...but sadly I am in my dream world of glass slippers and therefore am not able to think about anything else...

PS. How the HELL do you spend commerical? Stupid word.

In which I try to erect a tent...

Dear lord this parachute is a nap sack! That is what I said to myself today when I began to put up the tent...but its not really a tent. Its a cover. The box says: Can be put up in 1 minute. It shows two people putting up tent/cover thingy. They seem happy...probably so they can have a picnic without flies or bees. I open the tent bag and pull it out. It promptly falls all over the deck and all over my feet. It did NOT feel good. I find the directions. Directions say: place on ground, pull metal poles out until you hear a click. The first picture shows the tent flat on the ground, the second picture shows the tent fully errect! So I try...and I try...and I keep trying. While trying I gather many bruises, one actually at the top of my foot where my foot and leg connect *I don't know what bone that is*.

After wrestling with this damned thing for about 30 minutes and feeling as if I have run a marathon from DC to NY and I'm crying and cursing and sweaty I decide to go in and have a beer. Its cold, it will sooth my aching body. I'm sitting there, watching some stupid cartoon I left on for my cats with the fan blasting on me and I look down. There is something on my right big toenail...what could it be!? Oh...look at that. Somehow, without knowing it I have ripped HALF of my toenail OFF! Its still hanging on by a bloody bit. At the moment I have covered up my foot with a sock *and I HATE socks, I don't even wear them in the winter if I have my warm boots on* because I am to afraid to try to finish pulling the nail off...I think it will hurt.

After about an hour and another beer later I go back out. The tent works with me this time and I get it up in 5 min. I still curse it, look what it did to me! Killed me almost! I open the door so the cat can come out and play on the deck and I don't have to worry about her jumping to her death. But she saw my putting the tent up and it scared the shit out of her. She was afraid to come out into it. So I pick her up and place her in it. She wont move. I give up and pick her up again and we both go inside. We'll try it again later.
